We understand that taking on a puppy is a big decision and you may have many questions. Choosing the right dog for you is essential.
Using our expertise and knowledge we can make this process easier by offering advice and guidance to help find the puppy for you.
We find and train a puppy to meet your requirements.

In a world where there are many hazards and pitfalls finding a happy healthy puppy from a reputable breeder can be difficult. Here at puppy steps, we are able to help and make the experience of puppy ownership as stress-free as possible.

Once you have made the decision to own a puppy we can offer help, advice and guidance on which breed could be best for you.

With our exclusive service, we only have a few puppies at each Puppy Steps branch. This allows us to give maximum time and attention to each puppy and ensures we achieve the standards we strive for.
The Process
After discussing your criteria for your puppy, breed, sex, colour, etc we get to work finding the perfect dog for you, all you need to do is think of a name and be patient, which can be hard when it's such an exciting time as getting a new puppy.
Using your requirements we will look for and view litters that are a potential match. With our knowledge and experience, we will view the litters to ensure that they are happy, healthy, and confident with no obvious health issues.
It is essential that puppies are raised in the correct environment with their siblings and mother present until a minimum of 8 weeks of age.
As we find and view litters we will keep you informed along the way. In our search for potential litters and puppies, we have to be 100% happy and confident in the puppy. We look as though we were viewing a litter for ourselves and if we are not happy then we will keep searching until we find what we believe to be the right puppy.
Once we have found a litter we are happy with then we will send you some pictures and videos where possible so that you have the final say, after all this is your puppy.
If you are happy then we will purchase the puppy and begin training once they are ready to leave their mother, usually between 8 and 10 weeks of age.
The Training
Training starts when we collect your puppy. They come to live with us for the next 4 weeks, living in the house as part of our family.

We DO NOT kennel any of our dogs. They are all in the home with children. Being part of the family.

During their time with us, they received extended socialisation with other puppies and our own dogs.

The puppies are house trained, crate trained, taught to sit, wait/stay, be steady around food, waiting to be told before eating. We also teach them how to walk on the lead and to come back when off the lead. Puppies are around our children daily and learn how to behave around people of all ages.

You will receive regular updates, photos, and videos so you can keep track of your puppys' progress during their stay with us.

This foundation training gives your puppy the best possible start to its life during this crucial development phase of its life.

Whilst some of the puppies we have trained have gone on to be alert dogs, therapy dogs, service dogs, and working dogs, this requires the owners to do additional training with the puppies.
We are unable to guarantee a puppy's potential for work, show, or as a service dog.

The puppies we work with are family pets with an excellent foundation in place, which owners can build on should they wish to do so.
Post Training
When you come to collect your puppy at the end of the 4 weeks we will spend time doing a handover, showing you what your puppy can do and teach you how to work with your puppy and how to continue the training once back home.
Puppies are fully vaccinated, wormed up to date, and are lead trained so once they are home and settled with their new family they can be taken for walks.
Once back home with your puppy we are on hand to offer ongoing advice and support by phone, email or video call.

Our aim is to make owning a new puppy as enjoyable and stress-free as possible for everyone.
