The Magic of Trained Puppies

From rambunctious balls of energy to well-behaved canine companions, trained puppies have the ability to bring immense joy and harmony into your life. But what exactly does it mean for a puppy to be trained? Training encompasses a wide range of skills and behaviors, including obedience commands, potty training, leash manners, socialization, and more. By investing time and effort in puppy training, you can shape your pup into a well-rounded and happy member of your household.

Essential Puppy Training Techniques

  1. Positive Reinforcement: At the heart of successful puppy training lies the power of positive reinforcement. By rewarding desired behaviors with treats, praise, and affection, you can motivate your puppy to repeat those behaviors in the future.

  2. Basic Commands: Teaching your puppy basic commands such as "sit," "stay," and "come" lays a solid foundation for effective communication and ensures their safety in various situations.

  3. Crate Training: Introducing your puppy to a crate can provide them with a safe and comfortable den-like space, while also aiding in housebreaking and preventing destructive behaviors.

Effective Puppy Training Strategies

While puppy training may seem like a daunting task, armed with the right strategies, you can make it a fun and rewarding experience for both you and your furry friend.

  1. Consistency and Patience: Consistency is key when it comes to puppy training. Establish a routine, use the same commands, and be patient as your puppy learns and grows.

  2. Socialization: Exposing your puppy to different people, animals, and environments at an early age helps them develop confidence, adaptability, and good behavior in a variety of situations.

  3. Professional Guidance: Enlisting the help of a professional dog trainer or attending puppy training classes can provide valuable guidance and expert knowledge to ensure your pup receives the best training experience.

Finding the Right Puppy Training Resources

  1. Local Training Facilities: Many communities offer puppy training classes and programs where experienced trainers provide guidance, socialization opportunities, and structured training sessions.

  2. Online Training Programs: The digital age has brought forth a plethora of online resources, including video tutorials, training guides, and virtual classes, enabling you to train your puppy from the comfort of your own home.

  3. Residential puppy training. Here at Puppy Steps Puppy Training we help to find and train your puppy for you after discussing your requirements of breed, colour and gender. Your puppy lives with us in the home for the first 4 weeks as part of the family before you collect them and are trained on how to continue the training once back home.

Benefits of Training Your Puppy

  1. Stronger Bond: Puppy training fosters a deep and lasting bond between you and your furry companion, built on trust, understanding, and mutual respect.

  2. Behavioral Development: By teaching your puppy proper behaviors and manners, you're setting them up for a lifetime of good behavior, reducing the likelihood of behavior problems in the future.

  3. Enhanced Safety: A well-trained puppy is less likely to engage in dangerous behaviors, such as running into the street or jumping on strangers, ensuring their safety and the peace of mind of their human family.

Sarah's Success with Trained Puppies

Sarah, a proud pet parent, once struggled with her energetic and mischievous puppy, Bella. Frustrated with Bella's destructive chewing habits and unruly behavior, Sarah decided to invest in puppy training. Through consistent training sessions and positive reinforcement, Bella transformed into a well-mannered and obedient companion. Today, Sarah and Bella enjoy long walks, playdates with other dogs, and a harmonious life together—all thanks to the power of puppy training.

What our clients say

Trained Labrador Puppy. Black Labrador puppy which is a trained dog after completing puppy training at Puppy Steps

Lucy Lovell

"I was initially apprehensive, but we've been so happy with all Puppy Steps services and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Andy and his team! I followed the Fb posts for a few months, asked lots of questions and when the time was right I spoke to Andy at length and booked a place to find a puppy and train her. His experience helped to find a good litter and he helped us choose our puppy via video clips.

At 7 months now Frida is the calmest dog, with a wonderful temperament thanks to great training - a joy to have in our family. We'll definitely go back to Puppy Steps if we ever decide to have another puppy."

"I contacted Andy @ puppy steps after reading the reviews and testimonials on the website. I spoke to Andy a number of times at length as I wasn’t sure the type of puppy that would suit our family. Andy found and trained our beautiful cocker spaniel Harper. She is a delight. Obedient, calm and super friendly. From day one everyone comments on how calm and well behaved she is. Slept all night from day one with no accidents. I would recommend Andy and his team in a heartbeat. I have called Andy since to get advice and guidance and he is always happy to help. Harper is nearly 8 months now and the best decision we ever made."

Linda and Mike, Aoife's owners

We have wanted our own dog for many years but with both of us working full time, it just wasn't possible. A mutual friend told me about Andy, so I contacted him to ask about the unique service he was offering. We had two in depth telephone conversations about our lifestyle, which breed would suit us, his experience with dogs, and the training he was offering etc. Yesterday we went to view one of Andy's puppies, a little black Cocker Spaniel. She was absolutely adorable, so tiny but full of beans. Andy is extremely knowledgable, he answered all our questions, and gave us plenty of advice and encouragement. We spent some time with Andy and his wife Lucy and two beautiful children, Harry and Libby. They made us feel very much at home, they are both so easy to talk to, even though it was our first meeting it felt like we had known them for ever. Andy is a great person, so professional, with extremely high principles. There was no pressure to adopt the puppy, we all needed to make sure it was the correct thing for all concerned. Fortunately they must have liked us too, because Andy and Lucy agreed that we were going to be responsible dog owners, who would give their puppy the home it deserved. We're collecting our puppy now named Aoife (pronounced - eefa) at the beginning of December.
Andy is offering an exceptional service, his passion and enthusiasm is phenomenal, and I would thoroughly recommend Andy to anyone who thought they couldn't take on a puppy. Exciting times ahead!!
